First-Generation Week
51Ƶ is committed to making students who are First-Generation college attendees feel welcomed, supported, and celebrated.
Ivy Tech joins the Country in recognizing the National First-Generation College Celebration by hosting First Generation Week! Ivy Tech has nearly 32,000 first-generation students across the state. To encourage a welcoming environment for current and prospective first-generation students, and to celebrate their successes, each campus will hold first-generation programs and events designed to celebrate, educate, and engage our first-generation students.
What is a “first-generation” student?
51Ƶ considers any student who does not have a parent who graduated from college to be first-generation.
We encourage all Ivy Tech First-Generation students to post a picture of themselves proclaiming their pride for being first-generation and use #IvyTechFirstGen and #CelebrateFirstGen.
