MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Didactic (lecture)

  • Is a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensed and in good standing in the State of Indiana andÌý
  • Has a minimum of one year of licensed nursing experience, andÌý
  • Has completed Indiana Department of Health Train-the-TrainerÌý

One of the following:Ìý

  • Completed the required state training session including adult learning theory orÌý
  • Holds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health Science

Clinical/Lab

  • Is a licensed nurse holding an unencumbered license in the state of Indiana, andÌý
  • Has a minimum of one year of licensed nurse experienceÌý

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Holds certification or licensure in a health care discipline providing care or service directly to patients. HLHS 117 and HLHS 130 Course Standard:

A qualified faculty member teaching HLHS 117 and HLHS 130 meets all of the following criteria: 1. Possesses an earned associate’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution, and 2. Registered Nursing Tutor

The nursing programs at all 18 campuses seek to hire RN tutors. The RN tutors will work with students in both the ASN and PN programs. The tutors will work with the students throughout the course of the program over the next three years. The intent is to assist students with both nursing course work and improve NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN pass rate outcomes. THIS IS A PART TIME POSITION

  • Provide individual and group tutoring for PN and ASN students and graduates awaiting.
  • NCLEX testing by walk-in or scheduled appointments. These appointments will be either in person or virtual.
  • Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students’ diverse cultures, language skills, ability and experience.
  • Provide subject-specific content to help students.
  • Clarify course content.
  • Utilize listening and questioning strategies as the primary tutoring method to diagnose student needs and monitor progress.

Responsibilities:

Leadership

Work with the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Associate Vice President for Nursing Education to support the College’s mission, strategic planning and College development initiatives. Maintain current knowledge of trends and innovations in post-secondary education. Participate in scholarly activities related to the discipline/focus. Facilitate program review process in a timely manner. Identify and prioritize School needs, secure available funding, and strategically allocate and re-allocate resources. Confer with faculty regarding ideas for program improvement to find resources for development through grants, College development initiatives and special projects. Staffing

Interview and participate in selecting employees; orient, train, supervise, develop, evaluate, mentor, counsel, discipline and terminate personnel according to established policies and procedures. Advising and Student Success

Work with faculty and staff to assess students and continuously monitor their progress for success. Ensure compliance with College policy to resolve student issues and assist faculty and staff to refer issues (student behavior, grade changes, etc.) to appropriate departments. Provide student advising support as applicable.

Institutional and Professional Service

Participate in School, campus and college-wide committees. Serve discipline by providing leadership and participation in appropriate professional organizations.

Community Relations/Outreach

Communicate with leaders in the private and public sectors and in educational agencies to determine needs for new courses and programs and establish advisory committees as appropriate.
