Assistant Faculty Lead - School of Health Science

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION: The full-time assistant faculty lead is responsible for providing leadership within IvyOnline for online courses and programs within the assigned school. The assistant faculty lead is responsible for collaborating with the faculty lead and assisting with the development, coordination, staffing, evaluation, continuous quality improvement, and workforce alignment of online academic programs within the assigned school. The assistant faculty lead will work collaboratively with the faculty lead; educational technology and instructional design team; and campus chairs and the curriculum committee(s) to ensure effective course delivery.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide leadership for online course delivery at the College in collaboration with the faculty lead including, but not limited to, the implementation of best practices for online delivery, identification of quality delivery standards, and implementation of new educational technology used in the online classroom.

Take initiative on special projects related to online delivery and teaching and learning as guided by the faculty lead.

Coordinate the hiring and loading of faculty to teach online sections within their school and/or discipline area.

Provide direct supervision and evaluation of adjunct faculty teaching online sections.

Coordinate supervision and evaluation for full time campus faculty in conjunction with campus program chairs or deans.

Monitor instructor engagement for online courses and programs in their assigned curricular area(s).

When appropriate, coach online faculty not meeting commonly accepted engagement requirements.

Review and respond to faculty, staff and student issues related to the delivery of online courses.

Participate in appropriate statewide meetings (such as Curriculum Committees) in their assigned curricular area(s).

Develop and implement professional development opportunities for IvyOnline faculty and assistant faculty leads, where applicable.

Work with IvyOnline course schedulers to ensure appropriate courses are scheduled each term.

Provide leadership and advocate for online courses and programs in their assigned curricular area(s) in conjunction with the faculty lead, including regular communication with curriculum committees, program chairs, and other relevant stakeholders.

Work with the faculty lead and instructional design team to bring new courses to IvyOnline as needed or as directed by the curriculum committee(s) in their assigned curricular area(s).

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

  • Use Learning Management System (e.g. Blackboard) to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment and communication.


II.听RETENTION AND STUDENT SUCCESS

  • Provide academic-related coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff.

  • Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources.听

  • Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with campus expectations and the faculty loading policy in the Academic Support and Operations Manual (ASOM 7.2).听听

  • Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach to students by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means.听

III.听PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT听听

  • Participate in professional development activities that may include scheduled training, time spent onsite in related business and industries, and self-study to advance instructional and technical skills as well as current knowledge within the field of study.

  • Participate in scholarly activities related to the discipline/focus, in fulfillment of annual performance plans, and as required for certification and licensure.听

  • Stay current in contemporary pedagogy, digital technology, and other technology related to teaching that best support student learning.听

IV. COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND BUSINESS OUTREACH听

  • Participate in community service activities on behalf of the college to advance the college鈥檚 relationships within its service area as appropriate for department/division/college.听听

  • Develop community/industry/business contacts to advance college relationships within service area as appropriate in the department and division.

V. INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT

  • Provide institutional support as requested by college administration such as participation on committees and task forces, projects related to college and program accreditations, and grant-related projects.听

  • Support and engage with Corporate College and Development (Ivy Tech Foundations).听听

  • Attend commencement and participate as assigned by regional administration.听

  • Participate in college/campus-wide meetings and departmental/division/faculty meetings.

  • Participate in career service and alumni activities.

  • Support program/department chair in program management activities.

  • Adhere to college and regional academic policies.听

This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Pay Range: $42,000 - $45,000 per 9-month academic year + Summer Contract (varies based on number of courses).

A qualified full-time faculty member meets the education component of the School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering & Applied Science discipline standard through one of three routes:

  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution in technology, engineering, engineering technology; or an earned baccalaureate or higher degree directly related to the program鈥檚 discipline, and

  • Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and

  • Two years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR);

or

  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and

  • Five years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR);

or

  • Possesses an earned associate or higher degree, from a qualified full-time faculty member meets the education component of the School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering & Applied Science discipline standard through one of three routes:

  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution in technology, engineering, engineering technology; or an earned baccalaureate or higher degree directly related to the program鈥檚 discipline, and

Areas of focus:

Smart Manufacturing and Digital Integration, Robotics, PLC Technologies, Automation Technologies, Mechanical Controls, AC/DC Circuit Technologies, Computer Aided Design,听 General Mechatronics, Fluid Power, Hydraulics, Motor Controls and Integrated Systems Engineering.

Certifications in FANUC (Handling Tool Operations), SACA and PLCs a plus.

This position focuses on teaching core areas such as Manufacturing Processes, Industrial Automation, Electrical and Mechanical Troubleshooting, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, and Industrial Safety Standards, Smart Manufacturing & Digital Integration and Electronics.
