Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, counseling, social work, or related fields.

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
The Student Affairs Fellow position is 2-3 year assignment designed to provide an early-career professional exposure to student success functions at the community college level. The position will provide hands-on experience in academic advising, student support, career development and program coordination. This role supports student engagement initiatives across both Student Affairs and Career Services, with a focus on the academic and career advising journey, student engagement in career readiness activities, and retention/success coaching. Embedded in the role are robust learning opportunities, exposure to varied departments, including advising, retention and career services, and a strong recommendation for the professional upon the completion of a 2- 3 year appointment.

At the conclusion of the assignment, professionals will have comprehensive understanding of student development at the community college level and will be prepared to advance to their next step in their higher education career.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPERIENCES:

85% of the Student Affairs Fellow鈥檚 time will be spent in on-the-job experiences across various student success functions, including:

鈼 Manage academic advising and career coaching case load in a manner that promotes retention, persistence, and student success through proactive interactions and interventions

鈼 Demonstrate strong commitment to student development and success through advocacy, positive attitude, adaptability, approachability, problem solving, and support.

鈼 Monitor student progress through academic completion plans, regular meetings, communications, interventions, assessments, and data collection

鈼 Maintain current knowledge of the institution's academic programs, curriculum, practices and academic and student policies

鈼 Support the implementation of the Career Development Portfolio (CDP) by promoting awareness, events, and milestone completion and follow up on student engagement.

鈼 Contribute to special projects aligned with the Curriculum to Careers initiative and career education integration efforts.

鈼 Demonstrate developmental academic advising that assists students in clarifying personal and academic career goals through the use of appropriate student development, human development, and student learning theories

鈼 Assist students in gaining a basic understanding of the College's registration process and processes that need to be completed prior to the beginning of each semester

鈼 Present to new and current students in a group setting over a variety of topics including academic skills, career guidance, student support resources and other advising and retention focused content.

鈼 Assist with coordination and logistics for student facing events, including college and career fairs, classroom presentations, and recruiting events.

鈼 Collaborate on marketing and outreach strategies for career programming using digital media, flyers, classroom visits, and student org connections.

LEARNING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

15% of Student Affairs Fellow鈥檚 time will be spent in professional development including:

鈼 Professional mentorship with a senior-level campus leader

鈼 Professional development opportunities in the form of job shadowing, community engagement, and informational interviews with leaders such as the Chancellor and the Campus Board Chair.

鈼 Exposure to campus and college professional development opportunities

Due to the extent of the training and development invested in fellows, there is an expectation to complete at least two years with the option of a third year. The fellow position is not renewable after the third year, but candidates will have options to apply for other roles at the College.

VISC Program Assistant

The VISC Program Coordinator plays a key role in the administration, marketing, and operational management of the Visual Communications (VISC) program. This position supports student recruitment, retention, and success by coordinating internships, community partnerships, and advisory committees. The coordinator manages marketing materials, including social media presence, and collaborates with the college marketing team to promote program initiatives.

The role includes overseeing equipment maintenance and inventory, providing technical support for specialized design tools and software, and ensuring the smooth operation of VISC labs and classrooms. Responsibilities also involve supervising interns or work-study students, coordinating events and workshops, and managing print and graphic design requests for the campus.

This position requires a blend of administrative, technical, and creative skills to enhance the student learning experience, support faculty, and maintain program excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Administration

  • Determine and lead action steps positively in recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach to students by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means.
  • Support development of student internships and other real-work experiences to support the curriculum and student experiential learning.
  • Coordinate program advisory committees and assure broad-based membership and participatory agendas.
  • Participate in community service activities on behalf of the college and develop community/industry/business contacts to advance college relationships within service area as appropriate in the department and division.
  • Maintaining marketing and promotional materials, including but not limited to, social media platforms and presence for VISC program.
  • Support the program/department chair in program management activities, including assisting with Workday requisitions and receipts, coordinating VISC-related events and workshops, and supervising interns and work-study students.
  • Manage day-to-day gallery operations, including scheduling, installation and deinstallation of exhibits, and maintaining a professional, welcoming environment for visitors and artists.

Marketing

  • Fulfill with campus print jobs/requests through the online submission form.

Equipment Maintenance and Inventory

  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on art supplies and equipment, including printers, scanners, projectors, and other specialized tools.

  • Coordinate with vendors for equipment repairs and replacements as needed. Oversee equipment purchases and maintenance and supplies for instructional laboratories.

Technical Support鈥

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to students, faculty, and staff on the use of VISC-specific computers, software applications, and specialized art/photo equipment.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, including printer malfunctions, network connectivity problems, and software compatibility issues.
  • Assist VISC users in accessing and utilizing design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other industry-standard applications.

Lab Operations

  • Organize and fulfill VISC print job/requests.
  • Manage daily operations of VISC spaces, such as classrooms, Mac computer labs, and print rooms. This includes opening and closing procedures, overseeing printing, mounting, and trimming, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of workstations, tables, and storage areas in each VISC space.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor鈥檚 degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience working in an art studio or computer lab environment, preferably with experience in Mac computer operations and Adobe software.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Workforce Department Program Manager

The Ivy+ Career Link Program Manager is responsible for the fulfillment of programming, and services to meet the needs of business, industry, non-profit organizations, and the general public. Work collaboratively with Ivy Tech Employer Consultants, Campus Chancellors, Vice Chancellors, program chairs and faculty to successfully implement metrics tied to employers, employees and College outcomes and ensure services and products exceed customer and College expectations.

Pay range: $45,000-52,000 per year

Location: East Chicago with some travel to Gary and Crown Point

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Development

  • Establish, maintain, and cultivate positive, collaborative partnerships with employers and other key partners like Department of Workforce Development.

  • Responsible for monitoring the use of division funds for program delivery.

  • Create and maintain Open Enrollment Schedule in partnership with Employer Consultant, Talent Connection Manager and Executive Director.

Program Operations

  • Orders department office supplies, including equipment and materials for all classes/training utilizing Ivy Market, Banner and P-Card.
